And once again, my piece of crap '94 F150 300-6 is giving me problems. Luckily this time, it's minor
Few weeks ago I resolved oil and coffee puking out my crankcase breather tube. Well that lasted up till few days ago, it started puking out oil and coffee again.
But also, noticed the engine would rev up to 1200RPM by it self once in a while.
I taught ok, maybe vacuum leak, causing the PCV to not work properly....and so I was right.
Started lookin around, and what do you know, noticed my charcoal canister (tomato can thing on inner fender) was rotted through.
My question is, I know that's for emissions, but do I really need it?
Can I just remove it, and cap off those vacuum lines going to it??
My 96 has a oval shaped vacuum tank. Its a three legged thing that looks like this (P/N 4C3Z-9E453-AA):

I've seen a coffee-can style tank in the same body-style trucks. I'm guessing they switched tank styles in 92 or 93 or 94?
