Put in a call the other day about this panel. It's been sitting at a guys place here for two years, and he hasn't touched it. He said he'd think on the price. Has a title and he thinks it turns over. He hauls a lot of junk cars and I think he got it as 'scrap'. It's got the 223 Spurredon Special Six in it. Did I mention I have a '47 2 ton coming from ND soon? Sold my 8n and the 47 is same price with delivery, so it's a wash. So why am I calling about this panel? Stu (truckdog) was here last month and even he was surprised at my array of trucks. I always have something to sell, so I can buy again. I almost never buy any new parts, just mix and match and fix and fabricate. I should know by Friday about the '60 panel. I have a real nice '60 f350 parts truck that I traded for a rusty winchester 22 and an old kerosene lantern. The factory script stakebed that's sitting on the parts truck is going onto the '47 when it arrives. It's coming with a good hood and the outer duals. 3rd time I've bought a truck because I already have the perfect bed for it. Those fender dents will pound out, the rest will buff out. Here I go again...

Im calling Obama. So he can take some of your toys and give them to the poor and lazy who don't have many toys.
On a serious note that's a sweet panel truck. I like! Ive always wanted a 8n as well. That's on my to buy list.lol With another 30 or so different fords hehehe
Gary - didn't I see that panel sitting along the road to your place and ask about it? Your property must have a strong magnetic pull....or something like that.
That 8N with its gravity dump Wagner bucket is just like one I owed years ago. I used it to build (partially) and maintain the local BMX track. I gave that tractor to the YMCA when we got out of our commitment. Also had and sold a 2N more recently that had a Wagner two way hydraulic bucket. That was a nice tractor. Stu
So, Superduty, when you get the prez on the phone, tell him my medical insurance provider for the last 15 years dropped me and now it will cost me 225.00 per month for the next cheapest alternative. 'Affordable Health Care Act'? I think not. That 225 would buy a lot of used tires and batteries......And Stu, yes it's the one you saw. I have a plan hidden away to make it a 4x4. Another cummins 6at? Sorry Spur. Right now I have to concentrate on the '92 f350, as I have 24,000 lbs of beams and barnboard to haul in the next 3 weeks. The bearings are out on the steering column, and the wheel flops around. It's in pieces as we speak....... I did, however just mount a 12,000 lb warn winch behind the cab, between the frame rails. Along with a short boom, it will haul dead vehicles up the slope of my tilt bed equipment trailer. Note that I did that BEFORE I decided to fix the column........

You are killing me brother! I sure hope that 223 finds the appreciation it deserves like the last one. Take one more look at that little 223 from the front veiw. Did you ever see such pretty curves and lines like those on the water pump and water neck? Down right gorgeous piece of equipment! When put together right, it will purr like a kitten. None of the rattle clatter of a weasel!
Be careful with those tail lights on that panel. They dont repop them and then you will be forced to buy them off ebay from a kid like Stu's grandson. Thats a funny joke only Stu will get. Nice scores GB, but could i ask a favor? Could you get that cheby wheel off the front of the panel? It broke my heart when i seen those clips! JK.............kinda
Yeah, that youngster would hurt you bad if you came to him to replace them tail lights. I'll tell you a story about Rusty and a set of those lights when I see you, Mark. And I doubt a Cheby would have had a 5 x 5 1/2" pattern wheel with those clips. Maybe a Merc, or Chrysler product but not a Cheby. Stu
I'm partial to the panels, I love them, especially if it has a 223.. Good thing the tail light lens are in good shape, almost impossible to find. The one over the license plate are readily available I have three extras if you need one.
I'm actually more excited about the panel than th '47. Will it hold 4x8 plywood with the doors closed? I run a cabinet shop, and the only covered vehicle I have is a huge 1 1/2 ton step van, and it's a 24 mile round trip to sometimes pick up one sheet of plywood. ( I am practicing my speech about why I NEED this thing for my business)....

...and the milage maker 223 would be a perfect addition to the firm!

Gary - I called my buddy Rusty who has a 57ish panel that he has long and intimate history with. It's really a 59 that's had a nose job. Anyway, he says it's 88" from back doors to back of the seat, and 48" between wheel wells. BUT, he says a 4'x8' sheet of ply would fit on edge between the seats.
After calling him I realized I have the Body Builder's Layout Book that gives these dimensions on a schematic drawing. It shows it's 91.60" from back door to stock seat base. Rusty has modern seats so that might be the difference. Either way you are covered on the 4'x8'. Stu
Yea, I thought about that after I looked at the pic again Stu. Its tough to get all those cheby eight lug wheels w/clips that i have seen time and time again while on the hunt for the 19.5's out of my head. Cant wait to hear the Rusty tail light story!
Thanks guys! And at 5'-6" tall, I could move the seat track an inch forward and get the 96" I need! It's so full of junk as it sits, it would take half a day to unload it to measure!
I was thinking too that with your mad fabrication skills you might be able to make a notched seat mount to allow a panel to slide in under the seat a short distance. Or you could install a bench seat supported on each outer edge to allow a 4" panel to fit between the seat rails. You've got the seat in the F-350 parts truck. Gotta be a way to do it. Stu
Stu, I like the bench seat idea! Ok, here's how the deal went down. The panel's owner told me he got it for free, so he didn't need much, like a couple hundred dollars. I counter-offered at 300.00 (mild guilt). Guess I wouldn't make it at the gas monkey garage or the 'pickers'.... Can't wait to haul it home and try out my 'retreiver'. That's the '92 with it's new 'traded for' 12,000 lb warn winch. I built a short a-frame boom, or really a fairlead for the back of the flatbed so the angle of pull will be paralell to the deck of my tilt trailer when loading trucks. It is very rare that I would buy a truck that already runs. Tractor is delivered and paid for. Came back to the island with an empty trailer, so I just had to inquire about this '56 right near the ferry dock. Guy at storage facility said the owner doesn't want him to give his # out to any more people. It is NOT for sale. Been sitting like that for ten years. Imagine the storage bill...........................
