Spur, the wheelbase is 110". I think that is like a shortbed? Do the shortbed pickups have a 2 piece driveshaft, with a center bearing? Have no real idea what I'm lookinh at here.....

Gary according to my book it came with a single piece shaft. Can you see where the carrier used to bolt up.

Yeah...I believe Ted is right. Even my 54 has a single shaft. Sounds like someone was cobbing something up with that 2 piece'r. Not that it's a bad thang.

On the one pc original shaft, are the splines on the tailshaft of the transmission? This 4 speed has a 4 bolt flange on the rear. There is a fairly light crossmember in almost the right place with two holes drilled in it, so I thought that was for a center bearing, but the holes are smaller dia and spacing isn't right. How have others faced the issue of splines when converting from a 3 spd to a 4 speed? I have some other questions so maybe I'll start a new thread. This one is fun but it's kinda all over the place for the tech questions.... Thanks, GB

Couple pics from yesterday. PO presented me with the title, a left side taillight assembly, (perfect lense)and a lic plate? lamp lense. The yellow f350 is my perts truck and will donate it's front clip to the panel. I will also use the instrument panel, steering wheel and I'm sure many other parts. Have to slide all this on the back burner for a couple weeks, while I get back to work, but dang, it's sure been fun. In the meantime, I'll be scouting up parts, like driveline stuff, brake parts and clutch cylinders or kits for above...... Thanks for sharing this adventure with me.
