That Jeep looks like the perfect zombie hunter for the apocalypse, Gary.
Too bad that kid showed up. I could use one of those here on the ranch.
Holley 1904 and 1960 model carbs are interchangeable, I think. Outside of being dirty, the accelerator pump is about all that goes wrong with them.
Can't wait to hear that your panel has moved under its' own power!
Running and moving are two different things. I'm sure both clutch cylinders are stuck and brakes are non-existent. Those two wouldn't stop me from running around the property, but it still has no driveline since the guy installed the 4 speed. That makes it a roller, but not a driver. Like I said I have a driveshaft from my parts f350 I could use for the front half, and the panel's original shaft for the rear half. Hoping the f350 shaft is bigger dia, then I can telescope the two together with some spacers and weld to perfect length. Otherwise I guess it's a pipe sleeve. I think I have a top rail from my kids old swingset....
That's about as 'redone' as they get here. Looks a bit rough, purrs like a kitten. Speaking of purrrrring. It's alive! Took an hour to find two fine thread nuts for carb studs. Finally found them (7/16?) on the eye bolts for my flareside tailgate chains. Kept the six mis-matched and broken sparkplugs and pumped in some fuel and that's how it went down. Just poured a gallon of antifreeze into the rad, no leaks, now I'm gonna run down and add water. Then I can run it longer. Here's some pics of this morning. And just in time. Danny just drove up!
I was thinking the same thing.... It's ok to put the new plugs in now. When you are driving with no clutch or brakes, it's good to know all the spark plug wires will stay on. So, I never realized the 1/2 tons also have a 2 piece driveshaft with center carrier bearing..... Sooooo... the PO put in a 4 spd where there once was a 3 speed. It looks like the front shaft is about 1 1/2 or so too short. I gather that perhaps the 4 spd is shorter overall than the 3 spd? Looks like I can use the original rear shaft from the panel and shorten the front one from one from my f350? This could sound really horrendous to some of you, but I think I'm gonna turn a piece of oak on my wood lathe so it's a nice pound in fit into the two cut halves of the front driveshaft, and then either weld around the perimeter, or put a sleeve on the outside and weld that on. Once again, the worst that can happen is the weld breaks one day and the two 'half shafts' turn independently of each other and I'm stuck beside the road. I might get lucky and find a piece of pipe that's a good fit inside or outside. Either way, I gotta drive this thing. I will post up photos next, forgot to download them before typing......
That healed nice. Wish our trucks would heal thy selves like we do.
Mechanics get payed almost as much as Doctors now so they should.
Let me know when the new wears off on the panel so I can come
drive her home.
Ya new plugs would work for that. "Don't need brakes as they just slow
ya down".

Danny left early just like he came late. He brought me a bottle of wine from the local mom and pop store. All I can sAY IS THE PANEL RUNS REALLY, REALLY SWEET. OOPS CAP LOCK. It sounds like a sewing machine..... If you want a a really good bed-time story/song....... just look at the 48-56 site and see my song. I think I'm gonna regret this....
I have been writing these lyrics for a few years. My wife and I drove East of the mountains last weekend and she finally wrote them down for me. I have owned many old ford trucks throughout the years and the split rims and cloth covered wires seemed to fit in the older trucks, which I have owned many of.....
