1997 f250 diesel when driving my truck it feels like something is dragging the engine down also when in park you can push the accelarator down and hold it at 1500 rpms and then something just pulls it down to around 1000 then it goes back up to 1500
Im gonna say its the ebpv. Do you hear like a wooshing sound? There is a two wire plug under the intake side of the turbo. Unplug that and drive it and see what happens.
with out and removed the 2 wire connector and it seemed to run great no pull down and when holding the accearlator at 1500 it stays at 1500 what do i do now .is it alright to leave it like this or does something need replaced and what is ebpv
EBPV is exhaust back pressure valve. It's a valve at the back of the turbo that closes to force the engine to work harder to push exhaust out. That makes the engine warm up quicker in colder temperatures. Other than that, it's completely unnecessary. Lots of guys will take their turbo off, take the exhaust outlet apart, and gut the valve. It is 100% safe to run without it.
