I have a 2000 F250 Diesel and am trying to wire up a switch to use the EBPV as a exhaust brake. I have found several write ups on the forum to accomplish this and I thought that I wired the circuit correctly but find that when I put juice to the circuit the engine makes no noticeable change in sound. This obviously leads me to suspect I have not wired the circuit correctly.
According to the information I have there is a 2-wire plug under the turbo. The plug is located in the pedestal that the turbo mounts to. One of the wires was suppose to be black/grey and the other was grey/red. On my truck I have the grey/red wire but the other wire is red/yellow. I cut the grey/red wire as was recommended and spliced in the diodes and connected the wires back according to the instructions. But as previously mentioned nothing seemed to work.
I am now wondering if I actually tapped into the wrong 2-wire plug. I would appreciate any help that anyone might have.
Thanks in advance.
Tom
Welcome to FTE. Can you describe better exactly where the wires you tapped into are?
Do you have an auto or manual tranny? If you have an auto, you will also need to do a mod to be able to lock the torque converter to make the EBPV brake work.

I have an auto and I did successfully wire up the TC lockup switch. That part works fine. The 2 plug wire that I tapped into for the exhaust brake is near the bottom of the turbo base and is attached to the turbo base. The plug is pointed straight out towards the front of the truck. The wires into the plug look like 16 or 18 gage and extend approx. 3 inches out from the main large bundle of wires. I didn't have a lot of room to splice into the grey/red wire on the connector.
Should there be a noticeable difference in the sound of the truck when I activate the exhaust brake?
Thanks again for your help.
