Unknown wire center of engine valley

Hi all, I am new to the forum and this is my first post. I have a '99 powerstroke with 130,000 miles. I recently replaced the valve that empties the fuel bowl due to a diesel leak. While cleaning up the diesel in valley I noticed a 2 prong wire not connected to anything. The wire is in the middle of the motor and comes out of a large group wires. This pin has wire that secures it to where ever it connects. All the connectors that are with in reach of this wire are connected. Any thoughts?

I wonder if the previous owner did an EBPV delete. Is there a set of wires going to the pedestal under the turbo?

There are wires going to turbo pedestal. The truck runs great. I wonder if it is for a warning light or possible an exhaust brake modification. The truck does have an engine brake with the switch on the dash but I don't know how it was installed. I will try to get pictures posted tomorrow. Thanks

Sounds like it might be the wires for the fuel bowl heater/water in fuel sensor, obviously a picture would likely help. If there is a wire clip it may be for the EBPV in the base of the pedestal. See second pic.

Do you have this plugged in on the fuel bowl?

The one that says heater plug in the center of the picture.

From the looks of the pic, and the fact that I assume the truck is running fine, I would say that it should have gone to the EBPV, but the "Exhaust Brake" has been plugged into the actuator to control it via a switched source rather than from the original bundle.

Sure, you could always try to follow the plug that is currently on the EBPV actuator and see if it goes to your switch in the cab. Those style plugs are on the injectors, the IPR and the EBPV. If you didn't want the EBPV brake then you could probably just plug in the wire you found, I would probably want to wrap in in some tape too, if you aren't going to use it, just to prevent possible shorting.
