Hey guys first post on this part of the forum usually hang out with the 9th gen boys. Recently I bought a 2001 7.3 154000 miles on it from a close family friend knowing that it had never had glow plugs or relay changed I decided this could be my white smoke cold start issue. I tackled the job yesterday with it taking me all day and the guys that say the passenger side is easier there's a special place in for you imo.
Things I did: 50cent mod, 42 pin wire wrap, replaced with zd-11 plugs, stancor upgrade, re-torqued the rocker arm hold downs and injector hold downs. (didn't have to turn any given bolt more then 1/2 a turn)
Problems I'm having: I lost like six of those little zip ties to the head monsters, the rear two connectors don't really click on to the glow plugs just kinda slide over and to top it all off I put a pen tip size knick in the glow plug wire exposing it but it doesn't look like it will have a chance to ground on anything, oh ya and then it seems like theres a little louder tick only audible from inside the cab but then again it could be from me being tired irritated and paranoid and it being 1 a.m. in the morning.
So is this anything to worry about thanks everyone for the replies!
