Not very often, but three times since I put the HD trans in (March), truck will die when I shift to reverse. Warm, after driving for a while, starts up fine after. No other symptoms that I can tell.
Chafed wire somewhere? Internal? I know yesterday it was in 80e tune, don't remember about other times.
When mine did that, it was a chafed wire in the harness over the drivers valve cover. The WTS, WIF and CEL would light up at the same time. Do you get any of those lights when it dies?

Not beyond what happens when the motor dies and the key is still on. I will look again at the vc, but had looked that over last year.
For some reason my first instinct was tc locking? but no real idea.

I think you may be correct. Low pressure can cause the TC to lock when reverse is selected.
