Just wondering, if I bead blasted a rusty chrome grille, could it be powder coated with decent results? Not looking for a restoration quality finish. Any opinions on this? Thanks, Jim
I have used the two coat "chrome" powder from Caswell on small parts with good results. Powder is just a plastic, so clean (blasted for bite) chrome should be fine. No one will mistake it for chrome, but it looks nice. Any pits should be filled with lab-metal or they will show through.
I'm not looking to have it powder coated to a chrome finish. Either a gloss black or a charcoal gray color. I'm undecided at this point. I have been looking for a nice painted grille to start with but have had no luck finding one... Jim
Oh I see, any straight clean grill will work then. If it needs filler just use something like lab-metal that can take the ~400 degree curing heat of powder coating. I have seen a color called black chrome, that I would like to see on a grill. Most of the smalls that I have done, have been gloss black.
