Hello everyone. I own an f3 1952 that has been sitting for 9 years.
I already worked on the engine and it sound fine. I'm planning on working w brake sistem hand brake etc & try to get it on the road back again! My question is..where do I stat from? I'd appreciate any suggestion! Thx
Be certain to use new "flex" lines because they get filled with solid residue as water migrates through them over the years.
Loosen the adjusters to allow the drums to clear the shoes (Zapatos?).
Modern-day part numbers are what you will need the most. F3 folks, please chime in here.
Your truck may have "widow maker" wheels. Please read about these. They are very dangerous - especially when inflating or deflating the tire. I chained my wheels securely, deflated them, and replaced them with safer wheels. If you can, I recommend that you make room in the budget to replace any widow maker wheels.

Hey Sergio,I'm not the most experienced guy on these old trucks but I would make an assessment of what the brake lines are like,if they are rusted badly or whatever. The master cylinder is where I started, mine had sat for ten years so everything was pretty dry.No fluid in the M/c or lines. You need to find out if it's gonna work for you.No sense bein' able to go if you can't stop.
Welcome to the forum.
If the brake lines are original, pull the hold down clamps and inspect the lines closely for rust pitting. All soft parts should be replaced.
What Raytasch says is very true. On my truck the first place it leaked was at one of the clamps .All the road grime and crud gets stuck in there and causes them to fail. I had two such spots on my old truck.Be very thorough when you look at the lines. If you see a gob of dried mud around a line dig it out, thats where one of my leaks was located.
This would be a good time to upgrade to a dual chamber master cylinder also. With the original single chamber system, you lose brakes completely if you get a leak in a line or cylinder, whereas you only lose one of the two circuits if you blow a cylinder with a dual chamber MC.
Gracias ben te lo agradezco! No se que problemas tiene xk no se ha movido en años! Quería saber por dOnde empezar? Subo fotos tan pronto como pueda! Gxs
Gxs por la pregunta! Estoy trabajando en eso. Estoy removiendo
Plastas de grasa seca acumulada!!! Entre mas limpio mas mugre y oxido
Encuentro! Jeje creo que es parte del show!! Y lo que nos enorgullece
Al presumir nuestras trucks! I'm having fun!!! Sin embargo Acabo d poner en orden
El cableado electrico!! Little progress here and there! I'm a little concern
About my window makers though! Take care!
From Sergio - "Thanks for the question. I'm working on removing lumps of accumulated dried grease. Between cleaning, I encounter more grime & rust. I guess its part of the show & I'm proud of it and brag about our trucks. I'm having fun! I'm also in the process of rewiring the truck - a little progress here & there - though I am a little concerned about the Widow Makers".
