If you smoke the turbo and keep driving it..... one could start punching holes in the pistons from high EGT's. I could not drive over 45 MPH or slight grades because the temps would climb.
A no start can be anything, one would have to do the process of elimination instead of guessing.
I would start by checking compression in all cylinders. And I would not invest in a turbo until you get it running. This engine may be toast. What does the oil look like? Any metal parts in the oil pan? Are you able to check low pressure oil while cranking? To verify the low pressure oil pump is good. Any codes?

On a van the oil filter housing is underneath. I pulled it and inspected the filter. It was clean. I put it back together and cranked it and it refilled. I think the LPOP is okay.
It had the anti-theft code in it, but then it cleared and didn't come back. I don't have a scangauge yet to look deeper.

This is a van we are talking about here. Checking compression is not exactly an easy thing to do on a van. If the exhaust wheel on the turbo is gone he needs to replace the turbo. Then he needs to get a scan tool and take a look at some of the live data and see why the thing won't start.
