It should run without the turbo I guess. If a guy wanted to see how deep he might be into a motor it would be a good idea and check it out and try to get it to pop without a new turbo just yet.
Yes it will run just not any power to speak of.
The question is "Why No Start?" Need a scan tool
to see what the codes are and what the live data says.
I need to bring you guys up to speed on a few things. I purchased this 2008 E450 to serve as a donor vehicle for an engine swap.
I have a 1997 E350 Airstream 190 class B rv. It's an extended van with a high roof and all the RV stuff in it, shower, kitchen, generator, all that stuff. This came factory with a V10 and I'm looking to swap a 6.0 in to it.
I like the 6.0. I've owned one before. Back in 2005 I bought an E450 new. I kept it for 7 years, but only put 19K on it. It never gave me any trouble.
Since I liked 6.0 setup in my E450, I was thinking of swapping a 6.0 in to the 97 Airstream. However, with all the research I've been doing on the 6.0 lately I'm getting a little scared.
Long story short, I want to make sure I'm going to do this swap before I drop the $170 on a Scan Guage.
In the mean time, I'm going to part out the E450. It only has about half the parts I need for the swap anyway. If I do the swap I'm going too look for a newer E350 like mine with the 6.0 that is wrecked, one that runs!

The SGII can be used on anything with an OBD2 port. So it's not like tossing
the $$ in the trash. Also if you don't have a need for it you can always sell it
to someone hear.

What is stopping you from trading that '97 (17 model years old) into a newer E450 style RV? I ask this is because the amount of work, not to mention headache and backache involved with engine removal/replacement on an E450 6.0L with the body still bolted to the frame by itself is phenominal, let alone swapping it into another E-Series that didn't come originally equipped.
m-chan68,
If anything I would just leave it alone with the V10. I only paid $5,400 for the Airstream, I stole it. I'm also already remodeling the inside. These Airstream vans were built really well, a lot of newer stuff is built pretty cheap. Also, any newer class B is going to cost $$$. Especially if it's diesel. Some newer B's are on Mercedes Benz Sprinter vans. Actually the Mercedes van might be good quality, but get out that pocketbook!

How ambitious are you about your proposed "project"? The reason I ask is because if the condition of the airstream is that good, might I suggest you lift the entire body off the frame completely to do the proposed swap? To do it right, simply swap over the entire interior and powertrain over to your '97 chassis, right down to all fuel lines etc. essentially turning your '97 into a 2008 van, leaving it only a '97 by VIN only? Yanking the cab off that 2008 will be a relatively simple task, since there's no body behind it (which I didn't know about before my previous post). This way, you can pull the entire powertrain without disassembling any part of it during the process. With your existing '97 van body suspended in the air with a lift, will also give you the opportunity to treat and paint the frame, thus prolonging its life.
