I just purchased an '83 F250 4x4 with a 6.9 and a C6. The trans. slips in 2nd. gear, that's what the PO told me. In my driving I wind it up in 1st, let off the throttle, shove it into Nuetral, and then into drive ,seems to work if I don't step on it too hard. So I'm thinking 2nd is just gone. Thinking if I try adjusting the band, see if that helps.
I'm not sure if i'm ready to overhaul this trans., think I'd rather swap in a t18, I have 1 out of an f250 that had a 4.9, If I get the proper bell housing, clutch, fly wheel, would that trans. work ? I'm also considering a ZF 5sp.If I get the ZF out of a truck that had a 460 would that work ?
I saw a bellhousing, clutch, flywheel at the U Pull yard, still on a 6.9 , If I get this can I use a 4sp. trans. out of a truck that had a 4.9 6cyl. ? I have many parts trucks but they are all 4.9, 5.0, 5.8, I don't have any big blocks or diesels
