I was replacing my upper door hinge on drives side and noticed that the nut plate has fallen down. Not really sure where it went... Tried to find with magnet but no luck. How do I get access to install a new one. I took the trim panel off next to the emergency brake but It's really tight in there.
Any suggestions on how to get the nut plate back in there?
It makes things easier for all of us when you put your truck info in your signature like you see on mine, so that you don't have to type it every time, and we don't have to ask.
If your truck is a 91 or older, I *think* there's an access panel there that you can get into. Not sure if it provides access to where you want to go, it's mainly just to reach the cowl drain pissers. On the 92-97 trucks, the parking brake and steering column support have to come out before you can even see the sheet metal back there, and if I remember right, that access panel ain't even there anymore.
EDIT: alright, check out my post here, you can see that the EEC (silver box up against the side of the truck near where the parking brake pedal would be) is in the way. I don't remember if there's access behind it, but you can try removing it. It slides out towards the engine.
i went through this not too long ago with my 94 ... gave up due to nightfall and realized in the morning that my magnet had de-magnetized ... it wasn't sticking to ANYTHING and i didn't even notice ! got a fresh magnet and had it out of there after about 2 minutes of fishing.
there is no access anywhere, it's fish patiently or start cutting sheet metal .
Thanks for the info. BTW its a 1989 f-150 2WD all original no mods. I looked for how to add my info for the signature but couldn't find it easy my first go around. I'll Look again under my profile. I assumed that's where it would be.

It's under the user control panel button at the top of the page, scroll down to settings and options, the one you want is called edit signature... If I remember correctly you have to have at least 5 posts before it becomes available... Back when I first joined it was 25 posts, so it is much easier now...
