Here is the problem: After buying this truck, I noticed the passenger-side door had an annoying rattle. So I went around torquing any loose screws, and found that the screw in the upper left panel is stripped. It's a longer screw, maybe 2", and it goes in the left upper panel, near the "elephant ear" window. I'm wondering if this screw just goes thru the sheet metal in the door, or if there is some sort of fitting that it screws into in the door. I'm thinking that if it just went thru sheet metal to secure itself, I might be able to use a slightly bigger screw and get it to hold. That whole part of the panel is loose enough that it rattles like hell on bumpy terrain. I'd like to fix it.
another option that you may or may not want to do is to take a screw lock (there the little clips with a slanted hole in them) like the ones that come with speakers and use it to hold the screw in place that way you don’t ream the hole out any more and the big screw doesn’t look bad and huge on your door panel. Just an idea hope it helps.
