Take a look at the diagrams closely,other than the MSD's heavy red and black wires to battery, nothing else looks or wires the same.........Look at your system, and use the connections that match your system. Ive used MSD boxes, i had an old Dodge that didnt seem to match the diagrams, i called there toll free tech support, the guy walked me through it in a matter of minutes.........

The open-collector output of the TFI module is what triggers the MSD module. The existing TFI module "thinks" it's talking to the coil, when all it's doing is talking to the trigger input of the MSD module. There is no tangible advantage to either triggering mechanism.
