I was driving yesterday and when I pulled onto the onramp and started to get going highway speed (around 50--55), the tranny was doing a switch back and forth between second and third. I was going uphill, and when I crested the hill, no problems. On the way home, even when hitting the hill at 70, my speed decreased and did the same thing at close the to same speed--55ish gear jumping. I was driving at 70 with no problems on flat ground.
To recap:Under load, the truck would switch to 3rd, the rpms would jump up, then the truck would drop back into 2nd and be sluggish.
I've got an idea, but any thoughts from more experienced dent owners?
Sounds kinda like your kick down is not adjusted correctly. My truck did the same thing a few weeks ago...turned out to be the kickdown rod hitting the throttle linkage.
