Patch RKE module into Antenna?

so I bought a brand new wiring harness that includes the keyless entry module so I can put it into my truck.my friend has the same year Ford and the range on the module is pathetic.when I have gone under the dash of models with the keyless module, it is simply a wire with about 6 inches coming out of the module.

Does anyone think if I used a Y connector and patched it into the vehicle's antenna it would amplify the distance at all?

Antennas can't be changed around that easily. They are designed for a particular frequency and teeing in multiple devices when one is sheided and the other is not will cause even more issues.

Who says one won't be shielded? I'll of course use a shielded antenna patch cable. but just like a home TV antenna, you can split the signal of a car radio antenna. Whether or not it will give any boost to the range of the wireless remote module, that I don't know.

Most North American RKE modules regardless of manufacturer run in the 315mhz range. An automotive antenna won't have much of a problem picking this up.

315 Mhz is way past the 108Mhz upper design range of the factory radio antenna. It MIGHT work, but why not just make a dipole antenna or something and mount it above the headliner at the top of the cab?

Did you try simply adding to the antenna wire?

First couple remote starters I installed, one in my moms car one in my wife's car.

First one was moms, it include antenna with wire long enough to run up behind the A pillar trim then across over top of windshield in couple plastic stick on brackets top the glass.

Second one really expected the same (both starters same manufacture) only to find that that one had about a 16" wire for the antenna. Instructions stated to run out far as possible under dash. As expected range was pathetic with it, so I added to that wire running it up behind A pillar trim, worked great after that. I just matched the wire size soldered on more adding to the length, shrink tubing would have been ideal looks like that is what they used, I just covered the joint with little bit of black tape called it good.

it is above the upper registers of what f_m radio puts out, but on the spectrum, that is a very small frequency bump up for an antenna not to be able to pick up. Not to mention newer antennas can pick up HD Radio and television signal as well.

HD Radio is within the same frequency range as FM... not sure on TV though.
TV can die for all I care lol. You're right, that is a small shift in frequency on the overall spectrum. It might work... I ain't an expert on radio transmissions by any means, but from what I do know... if you want a half-wave antenna it's gonna end up being close to 1.5 feet, as opposed to 6 inches like the factory RKE antenna. The length of the factory FM antenna is what, like 2 feet?

Hell try it out and let us know!
