Hey all! I picked up a used 94 Keyless Entry Module with two Fobs, think the wiring is already in place in my 95 F150 XLT (Power Locks, etc). While I didn't find much in the manual, I found a picture showing the module should mount right next to the AirBag Computer to the right and below of the steering wheel. Well while poking around under there last night I found where it should be mounted, however I don't see and wiring hanging around
:-staun
Did they hide the wire anywhere or am I SOL? Or perhaps I'm looking in the wrong spot altogether. I saw a post in the archive that said it was under the passanger kicker panel, but I popped that open and didn't see connectors that looked right?
I also have a question what is the connector mounted right below the ashtray for. Looks like some kind of test point, I thought maybe that was the keyless programmign connector? Perhaps I should trace that?
Thanks for any info once I get some more time and decent weather (suppose to rain tonight) I'll start digging into the dash some more - sure are a lot more wires and such under there in the 95 than the old 85 F150.
Most likely you will not find any loose connectors. What you should look for is some connectors that you will unplug and then plug the connectors onto the module.
That connector located right below the ashtray is for the Ford Electronic Brake module for trailers. This allows you to plug in the Ford module to tow trailers with electric brakes. From what I am gathering, the module goes behind the right-hand center portion of the dash, and has 4 connectors. J1 is the main 26 pin connector, J2 is the smaller 16 pin connector, J3 is the antenna connector, and J4 is a 2 pin programming connector. There should be a wire loom right next to the module, number 14001. That's all I have for information right now. Good luck and let us know if you get it installed and working. I am looking to do the same with my Bronco.
Well I just finished pulling my dash apart could NOT find the wiring for a keyless entry module, I really think it's just not there. Perhaps it's just my particular truck (95 F150 XLT 4x4 SuperCab) but I don't think so. Real bummer - I wanted a factory keyless entry, I know the aftermarkets work better but I want the look of factory keyless. I wonder if there is still away - without having to splice umpteen million wires.
On the positive side the last time I took a dash off was an 89 T-Bird and that was a nightmare I haven't wanted to try one again since. The truck's dash came off very easily - well thought out. Good thing too I want to replace my cluster with the one with a Tach.
You can install an aftermarket keyless entry without splicing into or cutting your original wires. I hooked up the Bulldog Keyless Entry from JC Whitney ($29.95 + ship) without cutting any wires. Behind the passenger side kick panel is a connector with the power door lock wires. Open the connector and disassemble the proper wires. You can buy, in an auto parts store, the exact metal wire ends that Ford uses. Install the appropriate male and female connectors on your keyless entry module wires and then just plug them in to the wires you removed from the factory connectors. Those wires will now bypass the factory connector. You have effectively then spliced into the original wires without cutting any of them. It makes for a much better connection and can always be brought back to original. Use the wires as identified by Bulldog from their website.
