I have a front end shake on my 89 f250 4x4. It's lifted about 2" with 33" on it. I have this persistent front end shake when I hit the brakes. I have already replaced rotors and pads, new ball joints, bearings are good and tight, replaced all ctrl arm linkages from pitman arm to steering knuckle. Tires are balanced. And truck shook right after alignment as well. Still have the shake when breaking anytime above 30mph. The shaking seems to be comming through the chassis not through the wheel or brakes. It increases in frequency when breaking from higher speeds. Haven't checked leaf springs or steering box. I just replaced a stuck front caliper, didn't solve the shaking issue, it shook before the caliper sized anyways. Anything else this could possibly be?? This has been very frustrating.
In my experience this is brake rotors and unfortunately just because they're new doesn't mean they're true. I went through 3 sets one year before finally getting a pair that weren't warped right out of the box!
If you jack up one wheel and spin it by hand does it go the full rotation without any change in drag from the brake pads? If not that rotor is warped or there is dirt or rust between it and the hub making it out of true.
I had this issue until I replaced the front rotors. I lifted my old truck 6" and it shook in different ways and I found where the pitman arm attaches to the steering box was missing teeth. Not saying that's your problem but just an idea.
