What are the effects of having warped or damaged rotors? I have quite a bit of vibration, and sometimes when braking my steering wheel will jerk real hard left or right. My ball joints, steering stabilizer and tie end rods are all tight. Do these symptoms sound like my rotors?
When something needs to be replaced I usually like to upgrade them. My mechanic recommended the slotted Raysbestos.
Does anyone have any other brand suggestions or experience with Raysbestos or others?
I don't know a whole lot about this stuff, so I was curious what the advantages/disadvantages of slotted and drilled rotors are.
Take the tires off and spin hubs by hand ,watch the space between the calipers. You should be able to see it change. Move hub up and down to check bearings, but I think your problem is elsewhere. Snugly will jump allover this one!!
a pulseation in only the pedal is rear brakes, pedal and steering wheel is front brakes, drilled and or slotted rotors allow the gasses from brakeing to escape which gives you better brakeing it also allows the rotor to disapate heat better
Tires ,balanceing, Upper and lower ball joints mainly inter and outer Wheel Bearings, also tie rod ends theres alot of linkage, jack wheel off ground have some body move wheel side to side, while you are under looking and gaugeing( tie rod movement 1/16'' no more ) grab wheel top and bottom for balljoint ,watch for any movement), wheel bearings will have the spin and all loose hub feel . Dont forget to check your shocks that will show up in your tires uneven wareand or shock leaking.
also rotors will warp if not torqed the proper way every other nut ,you may need to pull and have them turned, the ware pattern on the pads sounds more like calpers,is the ware pattern the same on both sides inter and outer?
If you do end up having to buy new pads and rotors...... stay away from EBC's GD rotors and Yellow-stuff Pads. Overpriced, lousy service and a bit noisy..... not to mention their fitment charts and supposedly knowledgeable staff are awful.
They shipped me the wrong size front rotors initially.... took close to 1-1/2 months to get them.... then went to put everything on and they also shipped me a set of damaged front pads.... which I had to wait another 2 weeks to get. Not a good thing when your brakes are down to the wire.
Well, like I said I replaced my brake pads less than 5k miles ago so surely they don't need to be replaced. If it were my rotors, would it cause vibration and stuff in the steering wheel even while not braking?
Also, shocks were replaced literally 3 weeks ago, with Rancho 9000's, so don't think it's my shocks haha.

May need to bleed the lines, if one calper malfuctions it puts pressure on the other also check the rears, may need to turn rotors and pack the inter /outer bearings.
