My stock set up had a slightly warped cover which prevented it from sealing 100%, allowing dust into the intake past the filter. (You could barely see the warp, but you could draw your finger along the inside of the box and feel the dust). I replaced that with a 6637. Cheap, easy to fit, and great filtration, as confirmed by Blackstone OA's and spotlessly clean intake tube. I got tired of the noise though, and also wanted something more 'finished' looking so I now have an S&B with the washable filter. Extremely happy with this set up. Great fit and finish, and very good filtration.
I just installed the 6637 as it is a little noisy which doesn't bother me one bit as I love to hear the sound over my radio. So far it has worked well for me and am loving it. I had the K&N before and not such a fan as it sucked a rock and destroyed my turbo, but thats just my thoughts.
x100 on the 6637. Yea it whistles good but I like that on my truck. Basically price of the filter and a section of exhaust pipe and remove your airbox/battery tray and yer done. I heard good things on the s&b stuff.
The 6637 is easily the best bang for your buck. I like the sounds coming from the turbo with the filter installed, that's for sure. However, I might soon change over to the AIS. I miss the protection of a sealed air box, and the fact that it's Ford-approved bodes well for my over-anxiety.
Price is holding me back a bit at this point.
Bingo. I bought that kit as well. Probably much cheaper to round the parts up on your own, but the kit is much more convenient and with RiffRaff you know you're getting a quality setup.
