Will this AFE intake fit?

http://afepower.com/catalog/54-10191/NPA.pdf

Says for '02-'03, but would it work in a late '99? I didn't think there was any difference in the intake from '99-'03.

I though it would but I don't understand why they make one for '99.5-'01 and another for '02-'03.

It will fit, but i wouldnt waste your money on that. I would buy a TYMAR intake IMO. better flow, better filtering and for less money. you will get tired of cleaning the filter.

I have a 6637/TYMAR right now. I know I'm going to catch some flack for saying this, but I don't like the way it sounds. I didn't buy a diesel because I was looking for a quiet truck but I just can't stand the darth vader sound. I actually went back to my stock airbox. I'm probably just going to get an AIS but I might be able to get the AFE cheap so I was going to give it a shot. There has to be some other people out there that don't like the way the 6637 sounds.

No idea there, the stock airbox assemblies are all the same and that said it works with the stock battery box correct?
Ken... you know how I feel about Tymar...

I to installed a 6637 and made 1 trip from San Antonio to Dallas 274 miles 1 way when I got home, I took it off and put the stock air cleaner back on. Too much noise for me.

Chase i know. I really hate that it didnt work out, especially when i referred u to him. I have referred many people to him and this is the first bad experience i heard of. I really think there was a misunderstanding in the communication, but it is what it is. Whenever i refer someone to them, i need to make sure that they menton my name that way he doesnt turn any possible customers away.

As far as the TYMAR or TYMAR "STYLE" intake, i really didnt notice a lot fo difference in noise with mine, maybe it is because the 38R is a loud ******* anyway, LOL

Is your bent pipe going to the turbo from the filter straight aluminum, or is it powdercoated? i dont know, but that might make a difference too. TYMARs pipe is powder coated.

I found the difference- since on the 02-03 the filter minder has wires attached that turn on a light in the dash when the filter minder gets sucked down, the kit you linked to has the provisions to keep the filter minder in place. The earlier trucks don't have this, and the kit for the early truck doesn't have a provision for the filter minder. So if you care about having the filter minder, buy the 02-03 kit. Otherwise, check this one out.

So your saying 01 afe will fit in and 02. It just won't have the indicator on the 01 air box? Reason why I ask is I want to take out my afe stage 1 and put it in my 02. Then I am going to order a 6637 kit. Is the 6637 that loud and anoying or is it something you just have to get used to.
