As I remember there was a ton of information contained in that thread it was a very good read as it was posted.
The link above has several different oils analysis/labs posted.

I personally and professionally use Oil Analysts Inc for oil testing.

Not sure what API people are looking for with Deere 10W30 as it's API CJ4 certified

The API web site does not list it as certified. Does it have the donut marking or the starburst marking on the containers?

Search by company or brand name and it doesn't have them listed.
API EOLCS

Also - there are posts on BITOG (IIRC it was BITOG) about Deere oils not being API certified, but Deere responding to questions stating that they meet or exceed the API specs (and these are claimed in ther advertisements).

Some may be certified by now though - things change, but the web site doesn't reflect that. It would be helpful to see confirmation.

Here is a post from 2003

That's funny, the Mexican division of Deere is certified.

I know Deere has always supported the API classifications, but never paid attention to the labeling on the bottles.

It is odd - and only the 15W40 product.

That was a big thing when I was at the Deere dealer (10 years) was for the parts department to push Deere oil and also only recommend certain fuelers in the area.

You'll see several references to Chevron blending Deere oil, and I have every reason to believe that as Chevron reps would visit our stores (Colorado Machinery is a major Deere Dealer in Colorado)

It really is good oil, but is also pricey and for that I see no real benefit over Rotella, Delo or Delvac.

Seems odd they wouldn't just go ahead and have the oil certified, but then again they do not market or sell OTR engines, therefore, no need maybe?
