so today i had a lil fun with a 5.4 f150 on the highway, i bottomed out the speedo in the passing lane i won by the way lol, ANYWAY as i was pulling into the center of town the truck began to shake and the idle became rough i stopped and checked everything out under the hood and all seemed fine, proceeded another 5 or 6 miles to the grocery store shut it down and checked everything again i noticed the ignition module was to hot to even touch, went inside spent about an hour there came out started it up and it ran rough for a few minutes but by the time i had reached the exit it smoothed out, pulled out on to the highway and hard accelerated and it was like nothing ever happened, im wondering... if the module could have overheated temporarily? i mean i thought once the modules got to a certain temp they were done, another thing i think couldve happened i disconnected the coolant line to the throttle body for the summer and i havent gotten the chance to reconnect it yet could that have had something to do with it??
The throttle body coolant lines are actually meant to heat the TB, preventing the plates from sticking under freezing temperatures, so short answer: no. And did you mean a 5.8? it would be kind of strange for you to ask about a 5.4 here . Sometimes the little Gremlins show their face to give you a hard time, I guess you'll need to either replicate the condition or ignore it to see if it shows again some other time.
i meant that i raced a 5.4 f150 and won, my truck has a 5.0 in it yeah, i guess it could be gremlins, i mean the module is a wells, dunno if they are any good or not but like i said once it cooled for about an hour it was fine, it was strange to say the least
