Hey Guys, a friend has a 2003 Ford F-350 SRW. Well, he purchased this new, and it has a lift kit. It has an enormous amount of steering play!!.
We are going to replace the steering gear box as per his request. But upon further examination I have found that the pitman arm is shot!
This pitman has a Drop of 6 1/2 inches from table to top of splines when putting the piece that the tie rod end goes into flush to the bottom.
The pitman arm has signs of rubbing also, which I would think has contributed with the excess play in it!!!
This truck has 40 Inch tires and has plenty of clearance for them.
It is also a 6.0 Single rear wheel!!
Can anyone help me find the correct pitman arm? Any suggestions for the rubbing issue?
Up in the right corner of the Super Duty forum you'll see a SEARCH THIS FORUM link. Put DROPPED PITMAN ARM in that box and click on the GO button. You will find 403 threads discussing dropped pitman arms.
I had looked through, but I didn't see anything that answers my questions. I am sorry if my questions are bothersome to you. I will look elsewhere for help on this. Thanks anyway.
