I just finally installed a skyjacker drop pitman arm on my 74 highboy. I used part # fa325 which fits a 77-79 f-250. Thought this would be correct since i have a 79 f250 dana 60 in front
Got the pitman arm attached to steering box, although offset of arm looked slightly different. however , my drag link will not fit inside the lower part of the arm. Basically the new arm has a smaller attachment point than the stock arm.
Do I drill out the new pitman arm, or can the end be changed out on the drag link? (or do i have the wrong pitman arm all together)
73-77 and 77.5-79 F250 steering boxes aren't the same. For 73-77, the output from the steering box comes through the side of the frame, the 77.5-79 is out the bottom of the frame. The pitman arm you have is not the right part for the job. I have no clue if it will work for your situation with some modification, but it definitely won't work as it is as you've found. I would definitely get the right pitman arm for your application since you never want to gamble with steering components.

any idea what is the right pitman arm for a lifted highboy?
My output comes through the bottom. I am thinking i have the power steering setup and box off a 79 ? tie rod length is perfect length, bust the tie rod end wont fit into the arm
You definitely don't have a factory steering box if the output comes out the bottom, so, there's no saying without a picture. If it's a 77.5-79 box then I would think the pitman arm should work with the 77.5-79 drag link.
Might be that your drag link has the bigger Chevy end on it. The stock ford size is noticeably smaller and can be drilled out but with a tapered ream not a drill bit.
Looks like someone's homemade drag link with Chevy tie rod ends. I'm betting the axle already met the reamer, it's doubtful they kept the small Ford end on that side.

correct. Both ends of drag link have the same size tie rod ends
