Angry slave cylinder

Why me!!! My buddy drove his 87 F-150 in front of my house last nite and there it still sits!! Slave is busted in two. How does it come off the line???...or do I have to replace the entire system. Hope not...cause I see no bolts on the master?

I asume yur talking about the external clutch slave cylinder on the transmission. To disconnect the line from the cylinder, look where the line goes into the cylinder. You will see a small hole with a roll pin in it. Witha small punch, push out the roll pin and the line will come out. When replacing the new cylinder make sure to use the new oring on the line and do not remove the plastic cap on the end of the cylinder push rod. You'll have to bleed the system and sometimes they can be a real bitch.

When you get the new cylinder look on the top and you will see an allen wrench set screw lookin thing. Thats the bleeder, open it and fluid will come out a lil pee hole when yur ready to bleed it. When bleeding I fill the master cylinder and open the bleeder allowing the slave to fill and gravity bleed for a lil while. Then close the bleeder and pump the clutch pedal like hell. After about 20 pumps, crack the bleed screw as the pedal is slowly pushed to the fllor, then close the bleeder and continue until you have a good clutch pedal, always making sure you keep the master topped off. One tip also... leave the allen wrench in the bleed screw and just turn it a 1/4 turn to open and close it. Good luck and post back to let us know how ya made out.

When I had the students at the school I work at replace my clutch the shop teacher told me to replace the hydraulics for the clutch too at the same time. I figured with labor being free why not? Whenever I read posts like this I am thankful he talked me into it.

I bled mine by gravity-filling the slave, then compressing it FULLY by hand with the line port at the highest point to drive any air back up into the master reservoir. I did it a couple of times to be sure, and it's working fine.

(...except for having the wrong bellcrank on the pedal shaft...)

Need help. My motor is out being rebuilt so I asked my wife to help get truck out of garage so I could do some sanding on truck. Rebuilding it completly, 1984 F150. She was going to operate brakes so it would not roll down driveway. Here is were my problem started, she pushed the clutch petal done, blew the guts out of slave unit. I got everything back together but can not get the air out of line. Clutch petal goes to floor and stays there, need to pull up by hand. Can see air bubbles going back and forth in line. Any suggestions or is the cylinder bad.

Compress it fully by hand to drive all the air back up into the master reservoir, then let it refill as it expands.
