Hi y'all,
After going for a drive I shut off the van, then try to restart andf it will not. After about 30 minutes I try a restart and it is successful.
Recently, from the advice of fellow truck fans, I replaced the ICM, problem persists.
Thinking this may be a air flow problem I detatch the double hoses from the air filter assembly and aint it just a miricle, the truck starts.
What could possibly be broken and what test can be done to check the failing component?
I think the fact that it starts after opening the air duct hoses is probably just a coincidence.. Is this e-150 a 300 six. with the fuel injection and "after run" cooling fan? I know in '87 they had a hot start problem that was solved by using this fan to cool components under the hood. Hope this is a bit of help.
Here is what the problem was and how I fixed it!
The butterfly valves on the intake manifold stuck open when I floored it, (damn annoying), so I used some spray grease to lubricate the assembly.
I am thinking that the butterfly valve was sticking so that when the engine was hot the air flow sensor was transmitting the wrong value to the cpu, this caused a far to rich fuel mixture to be sent to the engine and of course to much fuel, not enough air, no ka-boom.
