2005 vs 2012 Auto Climate Control
Previous Truck: 2005 F-250 Lariat, "loaded" Crew Cab with single zone auto climate control (owned for 7 years since new)
Current Truck: 2012 F-350 King Ranch, "loaded" Crew Cab with dual zone climate control and supplemental cab heat (purchased new)
After owning my current truck for about a year and half and giving it the benefit of the doubt, i've come to the conclusion that the new auto climate control strategy is not as effective as it was on my 2005 (assuming that mine is working properly). Also, there are no HVAC DTCs stored-
On my 2005, I literally never touched the auto temp and fan settings, *unless there was a lady in the truck*. I set it on auto - 72º F all through the year, no matter what the outdoor conditions, the interior cab temperature always stayed just the way I liked it.
On my 2012 i'm constantly fiddling with it depending on how sunny it is, what the outdoor temp is, what the truck running temp is, etc. When I get in the truck I may have to turn the temp up because it will blow cool air, while it's cool outside but sunny, then then later have to turn it back down because its blowing hot air. This situation occurs over a variety of conditions, it makes me feel like im using manual climate controls again.
Once the truck is up to running temp, and Ive been driving for a while and everything has stabilized, I no longer have to fiddle with the controls. This leads me to believe that it is working "properly" but is just not as effective as my previous truck.
I realize it's a rather petty gripe, but you know, once you get used to something and it's taken away you have to ask "why?" It's not worth making a special trip to the dealer, because I speculate I will be told that it's working "as-designed."
So, has anyone else transitioned from an earlier truck to a 6.7 and noticed this?
Right now during the Fall, I find the need to turn the temp up in the mornings to activate the supplemental heater. The electric element won't turn on with the climate control set to 72. I guess we all get used to different things. I do enjoy the dual zone temps since the wife is always cold no matter the weather.

I actually have the exact same issue with my 13 coming from my 05. My 05 was set to 71 at all times and litterally was never touched for years. Mt 13 it seems the temp never really feels "right". I agree it an extremely minor gripe and I'm surprised to see someone else bring it up.
