Well the 2 vs 1 key discussion has been a great read, although it doesn't help me much! Either way I'm going to have to get another set of keys made for the current doors, or get another set of cylinders/keys.
I can get some door cylinders on ebay for a decent price. How much is a locksmith going to charge to get a couple keys made if I take him the cylinders (ball park of course).
I think the suggestion to get a set from a junkyard will be your cheapest way and it will literally take 5 minutes to change them
1. Time to drive to junkyard
2. Time to find the truck
3. Time to remove locks and keys
4. Time to drive home
5. Time to stop at an unhealthy burger joint that WILL catch my eye on the way home
What are the locks most likely going to run me? 10 bucks at the junkyard? It's about a toss up vs ebay. BUT, I do love going to the junkyard.....
when I got my 93 I didn't get a key that would unlock the doors I bought a pair of keyed alike door cylinders form Autozone for about $10 any of the major parts stores should have them or be able to get them then I rekeyed the ignition cylinder to match the door keys
There is folks on eBay selling Ford lock cylinders with keys that you could buy if you don't wanna have to travel to the JY.
Should have done that. I went to the JY and spent literally 2-3 hours looking for keys. Never found a set of keys for a single truck I looked at. I did pull a stock stereo out of a 93 with the cassette deck so now I can at least listen to the radio when i drive the truck. I guess it wasn't a complete waste of time, was kind of surprised that not one truck had the keys (wasn't able to find them anyway).

10$? The cheapest I've seen them is about 40! must suddenly be a hot item.
Heres MY experience... round head and square head are the same. The door key only works in the door, the ignition key works in both. They are the same key minus the fact that the door has 7 "tumblers" and the ignition has 9.
My dads 88 uses 1 key for doors and ignition.
Our 91 uses 1 key
92 uses 1 key.
63 uses 1 key
79 uses 1 key
99 1 key
03 1 key
Thats all the ones i can think of off hand, to the best of my knowledge the two key BS was all GM
JY's pull the keys.
The dealer, NAPA and LMC all carry matching door / ignition key kits. You might have to argue with them at NAPA but they can get em.

i bet those 88 to 91 trucks were re-keyed
my 86, 88, 89, 90, and 91 trucks all had 2 key systems from the factory square head for ignition, and round head for doors. and the two keys would not fit into either spots.
