NO NO NO NO and NO NO. I do not need another truck, I do not need another truck, I do not need another truck. Whew.... glad I am task saturated and not able to even consider it at the moment. Or later when I am NOT task saturated. But YOU need another one and U haul rent's trailers AND trucks to tow them.
That SB will fit on a rentable U haul trailer all day long. Get your best friend and make a road trip. You can always put a flat bed on it until you locate a short bed bed to put on it. Ah...good luck with that. I do not know the guy, I have a trailer and he is only 4 hrs one way. But I need ANOTHER project rig like I need another hole in my head.

I don't know if I'm at the point trusting my 79 to tow a full trailer w/ this on it though ('79, stock 302, RWD, M/T Tremec T170F SMOD w/ highway gears, and 3:1 rear . . . . not a strong combo imo unless someone can convince me otherwise)
Even if it wasn't meant for me, I agree though . . . . uhaul would gladly rent me exactly what I need! Now I just have to make storage space appear and convince my wife!
Ship that thing !
Can't be more than U-Haul rental PLUS gas, oil, food, beer etc.
The ad says: $2K OBO Perhaps, ask if they will split the shipping.
Just an idea..
Well if you are not trusting your rig then you NEED to go get another one. Not get rid of that one, but just go get another truck. Everyone need 2 or 3 Ford trucks. Heck ya U haul rents a truck, might even be a Ford 3/4 ton, gas, 2wd reg cab AND trailer to go get it.
If you store it in the right place the "boss" never has to know. I know you have to have a buddy with some spare parking space. Get it and fix it up for "THE BOSS".

That's too funny, but it's also true. That's how it started for me with the Harleys. Now I have a shop full of bikes that I never ride, and all I want is another F-Series pickup.

That's the WORST advice I've ever heard. Can you provide more details please?

Much better advice. That's why I call the Softail "The wife's bike"
I would be the 1st one to be willing to ride along, I have taken some crazy road trips for rigs in my life time. Way back in the day, tow rope and cops, a sketchy dolly and thankful for safety chains. And even more sketchy trailer trip, that the truck did not really fit on. Off roading and end up going home in 2wd (with front axle only getting us there). Missouri to Texas down and back in a 79 Ford truck that we should of not even left the county in. I crossed a homemade REAL SKETCHY bridge up by kansas City for a Bronco a while back. Kansas for a 4wd F250 SC with Dana 60's, Illinois trailer road trip for free Ford truck parts. Oklahoma for my red Bronco. Man oh man the memories. And 99% all due to Craigslist here lately.
That's the WORST advice I've ever heard. Can you provide more details please?
Well when a guy says I have to find space and convince the wife. I am sure enough to be the one that says GO FOR IT. Because that might be all the push he needs. He never mentioned the lack of money, so I am thinking the rest is easy. But I am 1000% lucky that my wife can spot a 79 4wd F250 setting in a back lot/farmers field and she is quick to say "ha did you not see the 79 back there, we better go check it out". She was sad that she could not go with me to get the Bronco in Oklahoma. She was on grandkid B-set duty. But I sure know "happy wife, happy life". Helps that she is a Ford fan thru and thru.
She knows when I as if my nava-gusser if she wants to go on a road trip it is Craigslist run most of the time.

I'd say all of you are wise beyond your years, and I've got a lot to learn! But you're not wrong about the push, I'll be near St. Louis next weekend so this may just be meant to be unless someone snatches it up before I get a chance
Put a call in to the C-list add owner, and let him know the logistical efforts you are going thru to hopefully make it work out. Maybe he will cut you some slack. And remember this ol truck buying advice. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...l#post14696861
Also NO bed has to be taken into count, (or come off the $ count), because a 1979 SB is a hard one to find now days that it not a pile of rust.
As far as the wife, I am way more lucky than old or wise everyday and twice on Sunday. Here is my fender buddy back in the day. I was putting on an intake I got off Craigslist.
1979 ford single, cab short bed FRAME. Cab, and bed were removed. Still have cab its in very rough shape, kept it because the vin is on cab. I am selling the frame, front and rear axle & transfer case, brake calipers, basically everything I have for this project goes with it. No engine. No transmission. Call or text, phone number in link under contact call anytime, may take trades depending on what you have.
