The premium sound & the LUX/JBL are the factory systems that included the CD changer
The amplifier for all 4 speakers (no sub woofer on this one)on the premium system is behind the right rear interior panel near the door post. You should see voltage (key on or off) from fuse 29 on the light green/purple wire.
The LUX/JBL has 4 speakers plus a sub woofer. The only amplifier on this one is for the sub woofer. A bad amp on this system should only kill the sub woofer.
I think one thing 87 XLT was suggesting previously was to see if the fuse location was populated. If not, you don't have another amplifier that could be preventing sound. If so, then you need to be searching for a way to bypass that amp, or wire it in. Bypassing is generally the better option.
