I have a e99 that cranks over but won't start. No white smoke. I get a clicking when i turn the key on. I think my hpop is not pumping. I have a stock truck other then a 4" turbo back exhaust. i want to know is it electric or is the pump. any help would be great.
Little more info will be helpful, cause it may not be the hpop. Does it crank over strong and nothing? Does it crank over then sputter out? Did you check the oil, won't run if the oil is 2 gallons low. One thing to check but probably not the issue is on top of the hpop to the right is a bolt that will take an allen key, unbolt it look inside with flashlight or Q tip to see if that oil is clean. That oil powers the fuel injectors and if never changed not a bad idea to look into. Holds 3 qts 1 in the hpop and 1 qt for the one side of the engine and another for the other side. I'll give you more info on that if you are serious.
it cranks over strong and nothing. The clicking when I turn the key on sounds like maybe a relay is not holding. it sounds like it is under the radio. is there a relay under there that would keep it from running the hpop.
Ok, there are three relays behind the stereo inside a relay box. The big blue one is for your emergency flashers and the other smaller 2 I'm not sure what they do, but I pulled them and my truck started up fine. To clear out the glow plug relay under the hood, would you be able to plug it in and would start. if trying to start and blowing white smoke that would be your glow plug relay. I'm not sure if you have a manual for the fuse box. If you do, go through it and locate all the fuses under the dash and under the hood. You can use a simple test light on the fuses under the hood cause there always hot. Under the dash you will have to inspect them by shining a light or pulling them to see if any are blown.
Under the dash the bottom #5 relay is for the dual alternator and the top 3 are for the trailer.
Under the hood relay #30 is for PCM power relay #31 blower Motor relay #32 Injector drive module power relay. #33 washer pump relay. #34 windshield wiper park/run relay. #35 wiper hi/lo.
So start their, if nothing then it could possibly be in the PCM, FICM. If that is the case i'm going to have pass this on to someone that nows this area.
