I have a buzz happen several times when I turn on the key prior to starting. It finally happened with my head under the hood so I could figure out that it was coming from the PDB box i believe. It only happens once in a while but it is usually followed by a hard start. Twice I have had to let it sit for a minute before it would start. This has happened when it was hot and cold. This has not happed for a week but is making me nervous. This is my first diesel. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
I may be calling it the wrong thing. I am referring to the box of relays on the drivers side under the hood. I thought it said PDB on the cover. I have a 99 F250 six speed. 7.3L.
Oh, that is the relay and fuse box...it sounds like a relay is going south. Here are the relays I find:
#30 PCM Power Relay
#31 Blower Motor Relay
#32 IDM Power Relay
#33 Washer Pump
#34 Windshield Wiper
#35 Windshield Wiper hi/Lo
#36 not used
#37 PCM Relay Diode
#38 Trailer Relay
#39 Trailer Relay
#40 ESOF Relay
Safely throw out 31, 33-36, 38-40 !
My bet is #30, 32, or #37 ! And my money is on #32...I believe it would still allow the truck to turn over (try to start) but I don't believe it would start. I think if #30 or #37 are bad, they wouldn't let the truck turn-over.
