So this is the second time this has happened to me in the last month. I jump in and start the truck then all of a sudden it just shuts off. I cycle the key and instantly I can tell that it will not start because the wait to start light never turns off. If I crank it, it will crank over fine but you can tell it is not trying to fire.
Today though I heard this weird clicking like a bad connection clicking a relay on and off. I will post the video below, you have to really turn the volume up to hear it over the dinging but right at the beginning of the video you can see the WTS light flickering with the relay clicking noise.
I finally just keep cycling the key until the WTS light goes off about 10 seconds after I turn the key on (as it usually does) then I know it will fire right up and run just fine.

 

check conection on pcm relay or maybe swap with blower relay. i think all the fuses for an 02 are in the box under the steering column. Make sure battery connections are clean and tight too but i imagine they are.

 

Oh I guess I just assumed the PCM relay was under the hood with the fuel pump relay. I guess I will have to look what relays are in the cab.

That looks like a gas motor book IMHO but 302 relay is probably the PCM relay. EEC (electronic engine control) is what it is labeled
