ECM # Decode?

ECM # Decode?
Does anyone out there know how to interpret the suffix from the part number of ford ECM's??? Such as: E9TF-12A650-AM1A. What does the "AM1A" mean? I know that this example is a california model with emissions restrictions and that "ALA" or "AL2A" is federal emissions(other 49 state). But there are many variations of the suffix for the same bronco with same engine and options. I'm looking to replace my ECM which is causing problems with a new one and I don't want to use another "california" unit. Thanks for any help as usual!!
