I ordered and just received a new stancor GPR. I have been reading as much as I can about the install and it sounds pretty easy. The only question I have (for those of you that have one) is how it is holding up if you mounted it sideways. From what I have read the manufacturer recommends mounting it vertically but that would require bending some metal and lengthening the wires so they can reach the terminals. Im not opposed to it but if guys are getting some good longevity out of their horizontally mounted stancors I dont know if I would go through the effort.
thanks for the update. Did you install yours with the mount that came on it (sideways)? I see you are in Minnesota which I would imagine gets a good bit colder then PA. Do you generally plug your truck in at night when its real cold? I'm relatively new to diesel trucks and wasnt sure what the rule of thumb is when a power cord is available.

I start plugging mine in around November and stop around March/April. I use WVO so the hotter the engine is the sooner I can burn the grease.
What I did was buy a timer the mounts in the garage and have it come on at 3:30 in the morning. I usually leave around 6:30. That gives it three hours to heat up and my electric meter isn't spinning like a CD player all night.
I didn't motifiy any thing, mounted sideways. If all systems are working correctly, GP's, GPR I generally don't plug in till it gets into the single digits overnight, I run 5w 40 syn oil makes a huge difference when cold starting. Plugging in will definitely help the truck warm up faster.
So I finally got the lead out and installed the stancor GPR and man was it just in time. We did my friends first on his '02 f250 and knocked it out in about 20 minutes. We moved over to my truck and when I started loosening the terminal nuts, the large hot post and one of the small terminals literally crumbled apart from the relay. I think I changed it with no time to spare. The truck was still somewhat warm so my LED didn't stay lit very long when I started it up so I guess the real test will be tomorrow morning. It has been getting down to the 30's over night the past couple of days.
Any pics of the install? I'm thinking about doing the same thing..... So far I have been ok with unplugged starting in the mornings at 26-30 degrees...... I also have to replace my "heater" cord as it shorts out my house now.....
I only took one pic of the old relay with the two terminals broken off but I couldn't figure how to upload it from my iPhone. I pretty much followed the "Guzzles stancor GPR mod" and it has step by step instructions and pictures to test the old relay and how to install the new one. http://www.guzzle7pt3.com/s_gpr.php
