I'm interested in coming up with a nice way to have a mobile phone holder in our trucks. Has anyone come up with something nice and simple? I'm looking for a clean install and look.
I use one of those sticky rubber pads for stuff you don't want to slide around. You would have to roll the truck over before it would fall off. If you have a CD player and don't use it much they have a mount that slides into the CD player slot. My sister has one, the phone is right at your finger tips and it's anice solid mount that removes as quickly as you can pull it out.
The rubber suction cup is better than anything I've found - it will even stick to the pebbled plastic dashboard, but I'd be afraid of long term discoloration. It will stay glued to your windshield and the mount adjustments hold tight, unlike cheaper mounts.

I actually have the same pad in the tray on the lower dash panel. I'm not sure I like the idea of it hanging on the CD slot very much.

I'm just not into any of the suction cup type mounts.

Maybe you could remove the plastic trim over the A-pillar by the windshield and make a little metal bracket the screws directly into the metal. Replace the trim and then attach the phone mount to the bracket you installed.
The phone mount like the iOttie works like gangbusters.
This looks like something I'd be interested in. Where do they mount?
FO-74-92 Pro.Fit
It mounts using the two left heater control screws. It's only intended for automatic trans trucks and clearly states so. I figured the shift lever would cause this problem but I will modify it to fit the right side of the controls and it will be more perfectly placed, to me, than this factory version. You would still need the device specific holder but there are many accessories to go with this. I'm okay with my purchase.
The Pana-Vise 75107-393 would have been a better choice for me as it mounts under the dash trim strip.

I like the location of the second one a bit better, but I'll think about it a little. I don't want it as far away as the second position. It looks like the first position may cover up some radio buttons.

The one I have may work best when modded to mount on the other side. We'll see.
