Steering locking up! Please help.

I have a 2009 f250 4x4 . When i make a turn and sometimes while driving the steering locks up. Sometimes i have to jerk it back. Sometimes it feels like i have no power steering . And some times its seems the gear box is stripped. I had it to a mechanic look at it and all the steering and suspention parts are good. The u joints are also good. There has to be a HUGE problem with this issue, due to know one having a steering box, even the dealer. Please let me know if you have the same issues. I have a truck that i cant drive

Nope, that is pretty unique. You're the first I have seen complaining about this,

The stock steering gearbox kind of sucks. Most here will recommend a Redhead rebuilt box.

Cant be real unique, if everyone is back ordered on boxes. Dealer and most part stores cant even order them.

The stock boxes wear out and need to be replaced. Simple as that.

I have provided you with a link where you can get a stronger replacement box. Are you going to fix it?

My first guess would be the power steering pump is not working properly. However, some 2008 models are having problem with steering, see attached link.

Try locking your front hubs in and driving it. See if any of the symptoms change at all.

We had one case at work while yours is pretty new where the u joint on the steering shaft rusted a bit and were binding up. Strange tight and loose symptoms. We couldn't find it until we disassembled and the lower u joint was bound tight. We ordered a new one for the customer but an overnight soak in trans fluid freed the old one right up.
