Seems Ford elected to put second rate injectors in their new 6.0's, instead of the old Caterpilar ones. 5 of the eight where leaking. Ford knows about the problem and seems to be moving slow towards any recall. The also know the have a problem with software, so what ever you do don't let them reprogram your truck's software, you will end up with a dogg! Seems as if they know this problem too, but are moving slowly again. What's up, with FORD? Die hard Ford person here with a $45,000. F350 Dually -------- I want my 7.3 BACK!!!!!

Did you have an automatic behind your 7.3?

I don't think it's so much that they are moving slowly, they are struggling to find a fix. Somewhere somone screwed up and probably either was a guy's last day and he did it to screw the company, or they just have a really inexperienced software development team.

To All - I am glad I came in here - I was considering looking at a 6.0L PSD in a SD F250 and didn't know a thing about all the problems until I came in here hoping to find out some good info on aftermarket products to bump the 6.0L's numbers even higher - but now I know to wait at least until the '04's are out and receiving good reviews by their owners here. Thanks and I feel for you guys who dropped so much $ into your trucks and are having so many problems. I would be pissed-off-out-of-my-mind MAD!!! Hopefully Ford will bite the bullet on this and do whatever it takes to rectify the various problems and make you guys happy with and once again proud owners of your trucks! Good luck!
And to The Diesel Dude - It is not right to be so biased in this situation towards whether or not these guys do any "bashing" or not by threatening to lock this thread or edit posts. These are Ford enthusiasts too at heart or else they wouldn't be here! BUT, these are also Ford customers who are having serious problems that are not being properly fixed (i.e. 14+ pcm reflashes from Ford since inception -Profanity Removed - Get it right already!) after spending some very serious amounts of money on these trucks - and thus they have a legitimate reason to rant, bash, or whatever until this mess is cleaned up by FORD!
Oh, and there are some rather nice, comfortable, brick homes available in my area as well for $80,000 or so. Not brand new mansions, but quite nice and ready to move into.

Ford should take this 6L off the lots before Dodge takes all the diesel markets. I bought a Ford for the first time and it happened to be a new 6L. A $52000.00 mistake.
I like the truck itself but when you have to put it into low to get going and put the seat belt on from it rocking so much, there is a major problem. The dealer said he does not no what to do anymore after software upgrades being put in 3 times. I come from a little town up here in Northern Alberta and I would say that 75% of the trucks are having problems. There was this one pipeline company who had 40 of these trucks in his fleet and traded them all off on the Dodge cumminings. If I was a Ford dealer I would not risk the Bad name and take them off the lot.

Well I may as well jump in her with the rest of you. I have been following the site for quite some time holdin my breath, I have a 03 SD 250 crew King Ranch that has been in the shop 6 times in 6k miles, At first it was no AC I though it must have been assembled on Friday afternoon and someone forgot about it. Next it was electrical, no big thing just more loose wires, next engine light from no where ( 1100 Miles) they re-flashed and bingo there went the low end power and fuel mileage,I have a mountain home with a driveway that is about 90 feet long and a 30% grade, It took over 5 minutes from crank up for the truck to pull that hill in 1st gear. Engine light again ( 4200 Miles) They changed the valve and I drove it 1 mile out and 1 mile back as it wouldn't run, poping , no power, black smoke, I looked like a DDT sprayer. More time in the shop
I picked it up last week and it had a vibration that shook the steering wheel and exhaust system badly so there went the quiet ride. It is there now for the last time. I'm trading for a 04

None of you have seen anything yet! Oct 2nd '04 the new Fed EPA Standards kick in and "all" the diesel engine Mfgs will activate EGR valves and the like to meet the new NOX standards. I sell the 5.9 Cummins, Cat 3126, Isuzu (GM) and the International 6.0 in various new class 6 and 7 trucks. By far the 6.0 has the least of the problems. It's a freaking diesel engine built by human hands or machine. 90% will be happy owners and you will not see them here. I have an '03 Cobra modded to the max with no problems. I run with 40 others with no problems. Look at our Forums and you would think we all bought lemons.

It has been my fault for not getting all the info in that they requested. I have had a family situation to deal with and have not been doing much with the truck. In fact it has been at my brothers place. Now that you reminded me, I 'll get everything together in the morning when I go over there. But it has the last couple times been doing better, as milelage has went back up to appox. 15mpg, which still isn't the 17.3-17.8 I at first got, but a whole lot better than 10.7 - 12.7!!! And, no I haven't changed my driving style at all. But I did just get a 90+ ticket.

Good to hear it's doing a little better. Hopefully they will get you a new engine though. You started work on the house yet? Sorry to hear about the situation. Take care and watch out for the police.

Briefly off subject - Funny thing - I got my biggest speeding ticket in one of my trucks too for 95mph years back. And have been up to 173mph in one of my cars. Gotta have a great detector and a trained eye to stay away from the popo's. No speeding ticket in 4 years now - knock on wood - was in my girlfriends car without a detector.

Thanks guys. I was coming home from work and had just gotten on the hiway when some nut tried to run up my rear. So I stood on it. The nut was the cop. With the other things going on, I haven't got to get anything done. Thanks, and when I go to court, maybe the ticket will get reduced or thrown out since I was trying to not be rearended, which, once on the go pedal, wasn't gonna happen!

Some cops can be nuts. Thats pretty bad too, they should be setting an example for everyone. I wonder if maybe you might be able to get a whole new truck dealing with Ford, or if you would have to use the lemon law. Good luck when you go to court.

Yep, you will lose power and fuel mileage!!!
