My truck is a '06 F250 King ranch 6.0 and I have no output from the alternator. Even with the truck running VDC is just 12.7.
Which alternator size is best? Amperage?
The local Advance Auto has a rebuilt 110 amp for $180
My system is single alternator.
Thanks
If you want a nice, cheap, easy to find upgrade simply pick up a 140 amp upper alternator from the dual alt system for the 6.0. I picked up a lifetime replacement one from O'Reilly's for approximately 150 bucks and they keep them in stock. Direct replacement. I also installed an overdrive pulley I got from eBay onto it and couldn't be happier.

I did the same ^^^
And I am happy with it.
DC POWER would be a better pick but the backorder status was so
bad that I passed on it.

I will agree that a DC Power alternator will put out more power, but it also costs 3 times as much and are on backorder for a ridiculous amount of time. I don't feel I should have to buy a DC Power alternator and carry a stock one if it fails because I can't easily get another DC Power easily. If that's the case I'll just run the 140 amp large case 6G and once it dies simply walk into the store and get another one for free.
Ya'll have informed me well, thanks a lot.
Is a overdrive pulley a smaller diameter? Therefore it spins faster?
You got it exactly right. The overdrive pulley is a 58mm, with the stock pulley being a 72 or something along those lines. With the stock 110 alternator and pulley I was getting down into the high 10 volt area during glow plug cycle on startup. With the 140 and overdrive I'm usually sitting around 12.5 and once the glow plugs go off it jumps to 14.2 quickly whereas the stock setup would have to climb back up to the high 13's.

Yep, just make sure you get the right one. I don't have the specs exactly but if you look up 6G alternator pulley on eBay it should pop up at the top of the list. It's like 18 bucks. I think it's a 6 groove. The belt tensioner takes up the slack without a problem.

But that's OK for Folks like us that are Gearheads with a Truck Cab that looks Similair to an F-16 Fighter Cockpit with ALL the Gauges
But for someone that don't have Gauges or say maybe there Wife ride that Oreillys alt may die and Take the FICm with it IF its not caught in time so if this were to Happen was the couple hundred Bucks saved on a Cheap Alt really Worth it??
