I don't let anyone drive my truck that can't watch the gauges in it, so that's a non-issue. Also, if the alternator dies you have the battery light as a backup at least to warn if you you're not watching the gauges. The DC Power alternator has the same scenario anyways, but it's worse because you can't quickly replace it.

Good, fast and cheap would be a large case 130 amp 3G or large case 140 amp 6G. Both with the 58mm pulley.

Otherwise there are DC Power, Mechman, and Singer high output alternators.

I had thought there was a difference with the DC Power Alternator, where it continued to charge through the glow plug cycle, or something like that. Was I dreaming or was there something I read on that a while back?

No alt. is bullet proof. That could happen with a DC alt. also. My point is that on the road your not going to get the DC alt. in time to do you any good and a lifetime warranty is gravy in the pot. Your choice but I'll take the coast to coast warranty. Let me know when DC gets your replacement back to the east coast.

Right Unlimited warrenty is Great Its about Impossible to Beat it "Its FREE Wrench Day for GearHeads LOL"

When my DC Power Dies it will have to go to a Rebuilder Local I know what you mean about DC

Im shure at some point I will end up with a Cheapy to get by

It don't have to be DC Power I would Stress Power output would be the Main concern OVER the Brand

I'm curious to see how long some these cheaper alts last that has a Smaller pulley put on if they Last long getting Spun Harder

And if you are into repairing things the
bearing replacement it not that hard/
It's the regulator assembly that will get you.
It houses the brushes also.

So a new regulator comes with new brushes.

We are talking diesels here, not high revving 7000+ rpm V6's or V8's LOL

The 93-97 7.3 3G came stock with the small pulley.

The more AMPs it making will heat it up.
The RPM only comes into play with the bearings
ans the rotating assembly aka The Rotor.

Here is another option 6G Series High Output Alternator with Extra Heavy Duty Components
I am running one of these on my 02 with a snow plow for 3 years now with good results, one thing to consider would be to up grade and have your current alternator rebuilt and carry as a spare when you travel.
Just another option
