I purchased my demo truck (see sig) with 5900 miles on it in early August 2012. With the X Plan and a few other incentives, the dealer offered more than $15K off the $61K sticker price. In addition, they offered me $6K more for my trade-in than I was expecting.
I had just stopped at the dealer to "look" at the 350 6.7 they had out front. I wasn't really ready to buy a new truck. I was going to wait for the '13 model year. But for me, this deal was liking hitting the lottery. While at the dealer, I called my wife, she agreed and the deal was done.
Still lovin' it after more than a year and 32,000 miles!
With 2014 vehicles on the way, you should be able to get a new 2013 for about 18% off the MSRP pretty easily. Last week I bought our new dually for 48,900 with a sticker of 60,500.
NADA already says it is only worth 51K as a used 2013 vehicle with 500 miles on it.
buying off the lot isn't a better discount than ordering. make sure you are looking at an accurate invoice price number ONE, next don't pay more than $500 below invoice less incentives. so with a demo truck you need to figure out what $500 below invoice is and figure out what you think needs to come off from there. for me I think I would want at least $2500 below invoice on a demo truck.
I see alot of guys talking trades don't be fooled on them, dealers make money on the sale AND the trade. for me when I sold my '06 cummins dealer offered $17500 in trade. now you do have an advantage if you trade because you get back the sales tax. BUT I sold the truck in 2 days for 22k then had the dealer do an "in n out" which had the effect of a trade. make sure you hammer down the price of the new truck first or know what it should be, that way there is no funny business with the trade.
If you're in the market for a new truck, I recommend reaching out to my colleagues at our Marketing Program Headquarters. They'll provide you with the details of all the available incentives in your area, hook you up with a test drive, or send brochures. Give them a call at 1-800-334-4375 or send a tweet to our verified Twitter account, @FordService.
