I think right now I'm having either a fuel problem or timing runs for a trip then when I go to use it again won't stay running acts like it is out of fuel
Right: 9365 is an actual fuel filter, if ceramic, it can be rinsed out, but if corrugated paper, will have to be replaced.
Original fuel pumps have a glass bowl, later replacements may have a steel bowl.
The 9364 gasket is cork, so once the bowl is removed, you'll have to soak it in hot water before using it again, as cork shrinks with age...but I suggest you replace it.
If the local parts stores don't have the corrugated fuel filter (which wouldn't surprise me), you can run without it, but not for very long, as the tank probably contains rust/scale.
You can buy a universal in-line fuel filter from any autoparts store, install it into the fuel line.
1967: Elderly lady traded in an immaculate all original 1955 Packard w/25K on the clock she had bought new for a new 1967 Fairlane at the Ford dealer I was working at.
Dealer gave her $100.00 for it sight unseen.
For months, she had been having trouble keeping it running, had it towed from her house to multiple garages where the mechanics didn't know what was wrong with it, but charged her just the same.
I'm a Packard nut, dealer knew that, figured they could get their 100 bucks back by selling it to me (they did!).
I went to her house to look at it, she explained what was happening, it started, but the second I gave it gas, it died. I knew EXACTLY what the problem was.
I opened the hood, removed the glass bowl, took out the clogged up fuel filter, tossed it in a bush, put the bowl back on, closed the hood, started the car, backed it out of her driveway.
I told her I was leaving my '65 F100 there, would come back tomorrow and get it. Then I drove away, leaving her standing in her driveway bewildered.
Next day I installed a new fuel filter and over the next 5 years never had a problem with it. Felt sorry for the lady, but...
