I have a 1976 ford highboy, that in it's previous life was a farm truck, so that being said it has had alot of wiring add ons to it. I have all my lights in the back working but can't get my brake lights to work, replaced the brake switch under pedal. No help. Rewired most of the harness in the back. Can someone help me track this down? Do i have a bad ground, or possibly a bad brake switch from parts store? Another thing, my right turn signal and my alternator light stays on all the time.(i know these are probably unrelated to brake lights, but just thought i would throw that in too while i was asking questions) Signals work, alternator charges. Before rewiring most of the harness in the back all i could get was turn signals occasionally.
I have a similar problem. Hazard lights work. Turn signals work, but brake lights don't come on. One more (probably unrelated) issue. The high/low beams don't work. Stuck on low. Any ideas would be welcome before I start chasing down electrical problems. I love my multi-meter, but really don't want to spend that much time with it!

You need to get a multimeter and start doing some trouble shooting. Check to see if you have voltage into and out of the brake light switch. Do your turn signals work? The brake lights function through the turn signal switch so, if your t/signals don't work, you could be looking at a bad t/signal switch.
