Leaky Dealer AC Compressor
I have an '81 Flareside that I am just about finished restoring and I have run into what I think is a peculiar problem.

My F-100 has "Dealer Installed" Air Conditioning which is the type with the separate AC controls and separate heater controls but I believe that the ac compressor should be the same.
Mine has a leaky AC compression valve. The two parts that bolt to the top where the pressure hoses connect to the compressor as seen in this picture below. Seems to be an o-ring of some type on the shaft (not the flat gasket that goes on the bottom). I have it circled in the picture below.

Does anyone know where I can find a replacement new or used? Thanks!
Used to see these dead with the drive belt removed on 60's and 70's Fords Lincolns and Mercurys all over America.
A high-vibration compressor. GM had a super-star with the cylindrical Frigidare A6, and Ford had the York or Tecumseh 2 cylinder vibro-monster.
Yours is a York, as it has an octagon-shaped cylinder head, and has an aluminum body.
The York 2 cylinder lived on for years in stationary A/C applications, and as part of aftermarket A/C add-on kits.
So the seal you need is around the service valve shaft, underneath the gold-colored screw-on caps, right?
There is probably a service valve seal kit for these. I really never had to mess with the service valves themselves, lucky I guess.
These compressors, unlike others, have a separate oil sump for oil, and had either a dipstick to check level, or a bolt to remove to check oil level with a bent wire acting like a dipstick.
Could try googling York 2 cylinder compressor seals, or something like that.
I found a manual online that has that compressor in it, among others. Look for the octagon head. Page 18 of the manual page itself has a cutaway of the service valve, and replacement service valves right above it. There is also other info in that document, from torques to dipsticks.

Yes, around the service valve shaft, underneath the gold-colored screw-on caps. I thought it was the base gasket but replacing that did not stop the leak and dye is all over the one of the fittings.
I'll check into it and report back.
Man, I have spent hours and hours on that thing. All I have left to do is put a radio in it and get the AC up and running without leaking all it's freon in three days.
Clearing the boards for the bed took what seemed like for ever (Epifanes Wood Finish Gloss). I replaced every piece of chrome that I could get my hands on. I also repainted every thing under the hood too.
It came with the traditional "three on the tree" but I replaced that with a tilt wheel and an NOS steering wheel. I then installed a factory looking three speed shifter on the floor (I combined a cheap Summit Racing three speed conversion kit that had a nice factory looking round shifter and black ball with their premium flat stick three speed shifter conversion kit that had the better mechanism. It was a little pricey but it now shifts like a dream. The column three speed was flat wore out).
Truck was originally a light blue with a dark blue interior but I thought it needed to really stand out so I painted it Viper red and yanked the whole interior and redid everything in black. The inside of the cab I painted red too so there is a good contrast there. I also replaced all of the big plastic with upgraded XLT wood grain stuff I found on ebay. All I need are some interior windshield trim posts plastic pieces (impossible to locate).
I had it sitting in the back yard as a junker trunk to haul trash and stuff with. The guy I bought it from in 2005 used it to haul his grass cutting equipment around town. I never paid much attention to it until one day I lifted up the wrought iron "make shift" truck bed floor (diamond plate) and I saw the factory boards under there. I knew right then and there this truck deserved more.
I'll post some pics as soon as I can. (I love that damn truck, 300 CID and all!)

If this is the correct piece, you are half way there!

I just bought it. I check ebay ALL of the time. Not sure how I missed this. I also picked up an NOS kick panel. Mine are scraped up pretty bad.
Along the way a new windshield had been put into my truck and who ever did it used a little too much glue and it was stuck all over the trim pieces. They both split when I tried to remove them.
It's rainy here today and my iPhone camera sux but I am in my truck today. Here are a few pics:

For almost a year I have scoured ebay off and on for that pillar trim. Still not sure how I missed all of those.
One day on this site...and I am mighty happy. Hope I'll be here for a long time.
I have a salvage body and interior in blue.
I don't remember if the black door post covers are faded or not. I'd be happy to check them out this weekend when I get home if you think you might want them.
