To try to make a long story short my truck was stolen got it back 2.5 days later with 600 miles been put on it. It was towed to my shop with no fuel, starter fried, none functional PCM (no comm. no fuel pump signal to relay and no starter signal to relay) got new starter, put fuel in tank, and found a used PCM with same numbers as mine for a hundred bucks. Truck runs great in fact I think for some reason it runs better with this PCM. Today its raining in Mississippi and if I gas it taking off it feels like my truck now has traction control, it wont spin (wet), it wont drift and the abs pump goes active. How is this happening ? Left out some details, truck Is a 2005 F250 6.0 4wd Lariat FX4
My truck runs and performs well I only noticed this yesterday when it rained. I have thought of the programming issues, but didn't think the PCM would change ABS operation. I have also considered that whatever the thief did to fry the PCM may have damaged the ABS module . My question is did superdutys have traction control in 2005 I don't recall ever seeing it.
If it preforms good I wouldn't have ford reflash it, because then it won't. I would have the ABS checked out, but if the power is still there when this happens it sounds like a good thing.
No traction control.
However they may of damaged the rear differential
clutch pack and that could be what your feeling.
If the ABS is having problems and they hook it up
I don't think that they can reprogram it or a new
replacement without flashing the full system.
How you look at it your going to have to have someone
with the right tools take a look at it. By right tools I am
talking about a Ford VCM IDS. There are some non Ford shops
that have this. You will have to look around.
If an insurance co is involved I would find a Ford Dealership that
you like and trust and take with the service manager and see if they
can fix it without wiping out the "good" part of the programming that
you like.
