ok, im new on here, so im sorry in advance if i do not post this to the correct thread, but il try lol..
OK, ive got a 73' F-350 SCS with the long wheel base, this truck is super fun, ive had it since i was 17 and im 20 now, ive owned 7 cars since age 16, i hope this is my last vehicle lol, ive blown up Dodges, Chevies, Hondas, and Nissans, oh, and a Saab lol. Now i own my two babies, a 93' 4X4 with a 460, still runs strong at 250K and ive got my 73' 2WD for a project, though the milage is better, so its my daily at the moment, i had a rebuilt 390 with new intake and cam, 4 barrel, blah blah, the typical rebuild.
first question, am i doomed to stock exhaust manifolds because of my front crossmember? id love to have headers, even shortys..
second question, my power steering has caused me nothing but trouble, so i run with no PS, can i just assume that its safe to take the pump out? id like to maybe do another kit down the road, but right now im limited on cash and i really dont care about the power steering, ive toyed with the idea of just leaving it out, i would just like some more advice to the situation as to not break anything that i REALLY cant afford.

I recall the issue with manufacturer's notes on their headers refers to the swaybar that is mounted btwn the radius arms. Switch to the 75-79 style which mounts forward of the front crossmember and that note (stating it will not fit) will not apply.
ah i feel that those headers would look much more appropriate on my engine lol, the stock logs are the only thing that still looks dirty on it! and are you saying i need to go pull a new swaybar, or whole setup for that? sorry im feeling a bit slow today, but id like to know how much work id be in for

hehehehe.. you wish!
Yep if ya wanna retain a swaybar. You're gonna need to pull/assemble an 75-79 setup or go with an ADDCO swaybar. The most "difficult" part about installing the OEM is installing the I-beam bracket and/or later radius arms. If you have cast radius arms, they don't have the indexing notch to located the I-beam bracket's pin. However, an option is to grind a relief for it. The brackets can also be found on Econolines.
Sweet! thank you for all the info, and im sure its something i could do in a day or two, just gotta go pull an assembly im thinking. Thats the only upgrade i had yet to figure out, some headers would probably breathe much better than the logs, and whoever owned the truck previously installed a new dual exhaust out the back with Flowmaster 50 series, so maybe after all of the hard work i can really enjoy hearing the tone - more than i already do lol.
